The 2026 Field Service Benchmark Report

Priya Nair · Head of Insights

Field service leaders ask the same question every year: what separates the teams that hit SLA from the ones that chase callbacks? We surveyed 420 operators across lift, HVAC, facilities, and telecom to find out.

The best teams don’t just move faster. They plan differently. They lock skill matched routes the night before, keep about 12% capacity free for emergencies, and treat first visit fix rate as a core KPI next to utilization.

Average first visit fix in our sample was 71%. The top 10% cleared 89%. The gap wasn’t better technicians alone. It was spare parts foresight, clearer work instructions, and dispatch rules that blocked bad matches before a job left the depot.

OrbitX customers in the study cut average travel time by 18% after turning on predictive routing, and cut same day reschedules by nearly a third within 90 days.

If you change one thing this quarter, make it visibility: every open job, skill gap, and part shortfall on one board before the day starts.
